01. What is Gift RegistryWorks for the Independent Retailer?
MarCole's Gift RegistryWorks for Independent Retailers is a gift registry management system designed specifically for the needs of independent retailers. It is a low-cost in-store and Internet solution consisting of several scalable components and system features.
02. What are the different system components and features?
In-Store
The in-store solution is a Windows-based system that enables small businesses to manage gift registries using a personal computer. The software is called Registry Manager and it is a complete clerk assisted gift registry system, providing the ability to create, update, delete, and print registries.
There are also optional add-on features to support additional in-store functionality and ease of use. Registry Manager allows all these functions manually, and these optional components provide these processes automatically.
ScannerWorks Utility: Allows stores to scan items using a handheld barcode scanner and have scanned products automatically added to a registry. The scanner loaded with ScannerWorks software must be purchased from MarCole.
POS Utility: Processes sales for items purchased at POS to record those purchases directly in the gift registry database. There is a modification required at POS to support this process.
Item Load Utility: Provides the ability to automatically load merchandise files into the registry system instead of having to manually load them. To use this utility, the data must be formatted in a MarCole standard format.
Internet
The optional online component brings the registry system to the web, so that retailers and their customers can create, update and retrieve registry information online.
The system links directly from the retailer's website with screens displaying the logo and store contact information. Retailers subscribe to the service and pay monthly fees based on what features they use and how much activity their system incurs.
Web Retrieval: Providing customer access to gift registry lists for viewing and printing via the Internet.
Web Creation: Providing the ability to create and update registries via the Internet.
Web E-Commerce: Provide customers the ability to purchase items from the gift registry list. Orders are securely sent electronically to the retailer for payment processing and fulfillment.

04. How easy is it to install and operate Gift RegistryWorks for Independent Retailers?
The system is easily installed with an intuitive user interface. No special training or knowledge is required to utilize the system.
05. What items can customers add to their registries?
Customers can register for any item that you sell. If the item has been entered into the gift registry database, the system will automatically fill in product information such as item description and price. If your customer registers for an item that has not been entered into the database, the item will still appear on that customer's registry list.
06. What types of registry events are supported by Gift RegistryWorks for Independent Retailers?
Gift RegistryWorks for Independent Retailers supports weddings or all-occasion wish lists. If it is necessary to support additional event types, the Enterprise Edition of Gift RegistryWorks should be considered.

08. Does Gift RegistryWorks support handheld wireless bar code scanners?
Yes, MarCole can provide handheld wireless scanners and software to support batch or RF scanning.
09. Can I use the system in more than one store?
Yes. Licensing fees are per system. You will need a license for each system installed. Registries created in multiple stores can be synchronized for access at any store.

10. To what extent does the Internet option allow me to control the look and feel of the gift registry web pages?
With the Internet option you may brand your site by changing the background color, personalizing the images on the home page, adding your logo, contact information and your main site link.
11. Do I have to have a web site in order to use the online registry option?
No, we can point your URL or web address directly to the gift registry screens.

TECHNICAL
12. How do I enter my product information into the system?
The in-store Registry Manager system includes an easy-to-use content management tool called Item Maintenance Utility that allows you to enter your item data into the database and modify it over time. MarCole's optional Item Load Utility allows you to automatically load existing item data into the gift registry system from your existing item file.
13. How can my customers change their registries after they have been entered into the system?
The Registry Manager in-store system is designed for an assisted environment, where registry information can be modified by store personnel. If you sign up for the optional online component, your customers can update their own registries from any computer that is connected to the Internet and has a current web browser installed.
14. What computer equipment and software do I need?
In-Store Solutions
Requires a personal computer with the following characteristics:
PC: At a minimum, MarCole recommends a Pentium III processor with 64 MB of RAM. The system requires 180 MB free hard drive space for installations.
Operating System: Gift RegistryWorks software is certified for PCs running Windows 98 Second Edition (version 2), Windows NT 4.0/2000/ ME/ XP.
Printer: Any Windows-compatible printer.
Internet
URL: The Gift RegistryWorks Internet Option is hosted at MarCole and seamlessly linked to your URL or business website. The graphical user interface screens are branded with your Company logo and contact information. No third party advertising or links are included.

15. Does Gift RegistryWorks work on a Macintosh?
No, the in-store Registry Manager system can only be used with a Windows operating system. Registries can be retrieved, created or updated using a Mac on the web.
16. What do I do if I have a problem or question about the system?
A complete User Guide is provided online and MarCole offers full technical support service via email to support@marcole.com.
17. Does MarCole provide training for Gift RegistryWorks for Independent Retailers?
Formal training should not be required. The system is very easy to use, has built-in help and a user guide.
18. How many registries can I have in the system?
There is no limit to the number of registries in the system.
19. How does Gift RegistryWorks help me keep track of sales for each registry?
The in-store Registry Manager system supports entering sales data manually. The optional POS Utility can update sales from POS automatically. A modification to the POS system will be necessary.
20. Does Gift RegistryWorks work with my existing POS system?
The optional Gift RegistryWorks POS sales processing utility can automatically apply sales to the gift registry database. Modification of the POS system to identify registry purchases will be required.
